On International Yoga Day, the Seth Soorajmull Jalan Balika Vidyalaya Guide Group proudly participated in the grand Yoga celebration at Red Road, Kolkata, on 21st June 2026. Graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the memorable event celebrated Yoga as a way of life that promotes health, inner peace, mindfulness and harmony.

With enthusiasm, discipline and unity, our students represented the true spirit of Yoga – that it is not only an exercise but a way of life that connects body, mind, and soul. It is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self. Special appreciation to Bulbul Sreesha Choudhary and Guides Kashish Chawla, Pratiksha Shaw, Manisha Yadav, Kaushiki Singh, Nandini Ray, Amrita Shaw and Annu Gupta for proudly representing the school.

We, at Seth Soorajmull Jalan Balika Vidyalaya, proudly celebrated International Day of Yoga by organising Yoga Sangam at the school premise on 21st June 2026. Our students participated with enthusiasm, embracing yoga’s message of health, harmony and mindful living while joining the national celebration led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister in Kolkata, West Bengal. In recognition of our participation, we received this certificate from the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

Learning beyond classrooms!

Proud moments from the Seth Soorjamull Jalan Balika Vidyalaya Guide Group as we attended the book launch of “Jiwan Chetan”, the inspiring biography of our first State Chief Commissioner Prabhu Dayal Himtasingka, at the National Library, Kolkata.

The successful completion of the Banga Bihar Heritage Samagam was marked by the distribution of Activity Badges and Certificates to our dedicated Guides, recognizing their participation, commitment, and spirit throughout the programme.

Principal of Seth Soorjamull Jalan Balika Vidyalaya Nupur Banerjee Maam graciously motivated and encouraged all the Guides for their active and disciplined participation. 

Her inspiring words boosted the confidence of every Guide and reinforced the values of culture, heritage, leadership, and service as upheld by the Guiding movement. 

Such encouragement serves as a great source of motivation for the Guides to continue their journey of learning and service with dedication and pride.

This moment stands as a testament to teamwork, discipline, and the values of Scouting and Guiding.

Our school students bagged the first prize for dance in both the competitions – Dio Spectra held at St. John’s  Diocesan Girl’s H.S. School and the Interschool competition held at Rajasthan Vidya Mandir. The themes of the competitions were a fusion of hip-hop and Rajasthani puppet folk dance and Navarasa veer-rasa. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and this was a reflection of their passion and hard work. The choreography, rhythm, synchronization and presentation of all the students were very good. The judges congratulated the winners and appreciated the performance of all the children and also encouraged them to participate more in such competitions to enhance their talents.

On 23rd August, 2025, The Telegraph School Award for Excellence 2025 celebrated three shining examples of strength, courage, and dedication. Ms. Rita Gupta of Group IV was honoured with the Shining Star Employee Award. Ms. Laxmi Kumari of 4A has received an award for ‘courage’. The mother of Rafa Rahman of 1B has received the ‘Thank You Baba Maa’ award. It is a proud achievement for the school to receive awards for ‘A School that cares’ and for ‘Social Service’.

We are proud to celebrate the brilliant achievers of SSJBV who were honoured with the ‘Medha Samman’ by Taaza TV for Academic Excellence in Higher Secondary Examination 2025.

Congratulations to Ayesha Mubashera, Kanak Dinodia, Kasis Shaw, Khushi Shah, Meghana Roy, Nandini Jha, Priyanka Kumari Yadav, Puja Yadav, and Swati Gupta for their exceptional performance!

These champions have not only showcased their skill in the martial art but also set an inspiring example for their peers. Their achievement is a reflection of their excellent training and encouragement they receive at SSJBV.

Ms. Akriti Srivastava of Class 3B won gold medal in the 11th Kolkata district championship 2025 held in Mahavir Institute of Education on 15th June,2025.

The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence 2024 celebrated two shining examples of strength and dedication from Seth Soorajmal Jalan Balika Vidyalaya- Ms. Happy Bavishi of Class 3A received the Award for Courage, and Ms. Gita Basak from Group IV was honoured with the Shining Star Employee award.

We are proud to share the news that Amrita Shah and Ankita Gupta of Class 6, Disha Shaw and Aksha Ahmed of Class 7, Alisha Parikh and Kanchan Shah of Class 8, Riya Jha and Aditi Chowrasia of Class 9 received the Academic Excellence Award.

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh has received the best Teacher award for the Academic Session 2024 from Sankalp Sristi Siksha Samman.

We are proud to share the news that Payal Kumar Kevat of Class 1, Akshita Gupta of Class 2, Sneha Singh of Class 3, Sadhna Kumari of Class 4, Aruhi Kumari Shaw of Class 5 and Ms. Puja Kumari have received for best Teacher award for the Academic Session 2024 from Sankalp Sristi siksha Samman from the Guest of Honor Col Puneet Kumar.

We are proud to share the news that Mahera Khan of Class 1, Sneha Singh of Class 2, Sadhna Kumari of Class 3 and Ms Anamika Kakara have received the best teacher award for the Academic Session 2023 from Sankalp Sristi Siksha Samman.

10th standard student Anjali Seth secured the 3rd position in the English Essay Writing Category in the Essay Writing, Poster Illustration and Slogan Writing Competition, 2023, organized by the Government of West Bengal.
